Monica Armani was born in Trento, Italy, in 1964. An architect and designer, she divides her time between the cities of Trento and Milan.
Her design work involves a process of researching, condensing and perfecting concepts so as to shape sophisticated, restrained pieces defined by an absolute rejection of excess and by the ongoing distillation of the design.
The fresh, innovative style of her first collection/system, Progetto1, created in 2000, gained her excellent reviews and established her as a new key name in Italian design.
Her work has been reviewed in major design magazines, and produced by some of the key companies in contemporary design, including B&B Italy, Boffi, Davide Grippi, Gallotti & Radice, Lualdi, Molteni & C., Moroso and Mutina. In addition to her work as a designer, in recent years she has also been planning and designing retail spaces, working particularly with the use of light. This work has led to the creation of the ceiling/installation "Clouds", a dream-like skyscape of clouds in changing colours, and of the Excelsior project to renovate an old theatre in the centre of Milan, where spaces, light and technology combine to form a great concept shop.
